Blues Get Wembley Pitch

Blues are to replace the pitch in the New Year with the backup turf for Wembley.

Following criticism by Steve Bruce, Blues were hoping to start laying the new pitch in time for the Boxing Day match against QPR, but following advice work is now set to start on January 7.

The pitch itself was grown specifically to be a backup for the new Wembley and the club are to spend around 120,000 on installing it.

Speaking to the press after the announcement, Bruce said:

'A big concern for me this season has been the pitch. It has been so good in the past few years but now it is horrible.

'The longer the season goes on, the worse it is going to get. A bobbly pitch is your worst scenario and hopefully the work in January will end that.'
