Key player Vs. QPR

Key player Vs. QPR

Birmingham City welcome Queens Park Rangers to St Andrews on Saturday in what will be a crucial match for Gianfranco Zola as he looks for just his second win in 14.

Blues are on a horrific run of form under Zola with eight defeats from 13 and I do think that this fixture could be a decisive one for the Italian.

If the team are to come away with a much needed victory, then I think the key to it will be the team playing together as one and as a unit.

I don't think it's necessary for one player to be picked out as, in reality, no one is coming up with the goods for Blues.

We are struggling in every area of the pitch but Blues need to stick together and ensure they stay solid, organised and hard to beat against Ian Holloway`s men.

The one thing we have really lacked under Zola is togetherness. We saw it in the last home game against Fulham but other than that, Blues have fallen to pieces.

It's all good having possession of the ball but Blues need to be ruthless in the opposition area as well as organised and solid in our own.

In the last two games, we have conceded within the first 10 minutes and that's something that we can't allow to happen on Saturday.

We are struggling for goals as it is without giving ourselves a mountain to climb right from the off. A fast but sturdy start is needed for Blues and hopefully the confidence will grow throughout the game.

An early goal would be good to calm the nerves but it's imperative that we stay compact at the back and not allow QPR a sniff in behind our backline.

The fans will obviously back the players but things may get a bit tense if that goal doesn't come. The players will be aware of that but must stick to their jobs and not let it affect them.

They have the ability and have shown the desire, it's now time to put them both together and act on all the talking that has been done in recent weeks.

This is a must-win for Zola and his players. They will know that and it's time to get those three points however they may come but it's crucial that they stick together and play as a team.

I have to agree with that it will have to be a full team effort playing together as one It will now have to be that way all season there is no room for slouches it as to be 200% full commitment. Attractive attacking football is all good and well but hard work and commitment with a full team effort is by far more important this is what will get results. KRO

Defensively we are a shambles. Even the normally reliable Kuszczak is looking suspect. Having an extra CB while our wingbacks push forward should help. Not convinced Gleeson and Kieftenbeld are the correct pairing to have in midfield as both have been really poor. I'd like to have Bielik in DM but with no fit CBs then he has to play CM. Could Scarr or Harding make the step up? Zola seems terrified of making a decision but fans will be more forgiving of a rookie making a mistake than him picking a first teamer playing who deserves to be dropped.
