Bougherra Targetted

Sheffield Wednesday Chairman Dave Allen (wasn't he an Irish comedian?) has said that Blues want to sign centre half Madjid Bougherra.

Bougherra is an Algerian international who has already attracted the interest of Charlton who failed with a 1.3 million bid earlier this month, but now Allen has confirmed that Blues have made an enquiry and been told to come back with a bid around 3 million.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, their Chairman said:

'I think that if Birmingham come in properly, we'll be able to do a proper deal with them because I know their directors very well and we'll be able to deal with things sensibly.

'It depends what happens with Matthew Upson there.

'I'd like the lad to stay. Everyone would like him to stay. But at the end of the day, if we get 3 million for him, it'll be a deal well done.'
