Steve Cotterill: Thank you and best wishes

Steve Cotterill: Thank you and best wishes

With two decades of managerial experience under his belt, tying Steve Cotterill down to a permanent Assistant Manager`s role was always going to be a huge ask. The 52-year-old has turned down the chance to work as Harry Redknapp`s number two - and for that, he cannot be blamed.

It`s a testimony to the club that Cotterill was so tempted by the role in the first place. But, if he sees himself as a manager, taking up the role offered to him at St. Andrews would have been a backwards step.

From a supporter`s point of view, it is a crying shame. Cotterill, alongside Redknapp and Paul Groves, conducted themselves extremely well in the final few weeks of last season - the job they carried out was outstanding. Saving Blues from the drop into League One - considering the lack of confidence and disastrous run of form under Gianfranco Zola - was no mean feat.

In his short time at the club, Cotterill struck up a good relationship with the squad. It was evident during the three games that the players respected and trusted Cotterill.

While his stock is still high, Cotterill will be sought after and will do a decent job when the right opportunity comes along.

Thank you Steve and good luck in the future.

Obviously C&G have great confidence in their own abilities , and if the effort they have given Harry is anything to go by who can blame them ...good luck and thanks to them for a good job....... KRO

It will be interesting to see who comes in. Not keen on Kevin Bond but if Harry chooses him then ok. We simply have to back him totally.

Wouldn't surprise me to see McClaren. Decent Coach as a number two to Harry. Also,Mike Phelan. As long as we get good, sensible formations that will produce goals and wins.

Harry has a lot of contacts I think probably Joe Jordan if he leaves Boro. Harry is the manager and the supporters need to back his judgement.
