Transfer news: League One club in for Blues midfielder

Birmingham City midfielder Stephen Gleeson has emerged as a transfer target for Portsmouth, according to BBC South.

The 29-year-old has fallen behind in the midfield pecking order at St. Andrew's, with Harry Redknapp still looking to bolster his ranks.

Gleeson joined Blues on a free transfer from MK Dons in June 2014 and has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club.

He featured 29 times in the Championship last season and scored one goal.

A bit harsh. Gleeson is a decent footballer on his day. He just suffers with the same blight as a lot of players where he cant perform at a high level consistently. But then those who can usually end up at big clubs for big money

Lets get a replacement in first before trimming the squad further.

Im a Pompey fan, whats this guy like? all ive heard so far is that he is slow to release the ball and when he does its usually sideways, we are playing a flat 442 with a similarly defensive minded CM next to him - would this guy fit our system?

Would be sad to see a long serving player who has been good for the club leaving. There's no room for sentiment in football however,if he stays great,if he leaves we will remember all he has given, whatever happens I wish him well.

pompeynick96 I have no idea what system you have however if Stephen Gleeson does go to your club you will be getting a very good player who in league one would shine,he would aid you and help your team push on in the right direction, good luck if you get him. KRO
