Redknapp: 'Adams out for several weeks'

Redknapp: 'Adams out for several weeks'

Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that striker Che Adams could be out of action for several weeks after he pulled his hamstring in the win over Bristol City.

Goals from Craig Gardner and Jacques Maghoma cancelled out Bobby Reid's early striker to give Blues their first three points off the season but Adams' injury and Maikel Kieftenbeld's red card marred the afternoon.

Speaking after the game, Redknapp said: 'I now have only one striker with the injury to Adams who will be out of action for several weeks.

'It is a crazy situation at this stage of the season. We are going to finish up with youngsters in the side.

'What we need to do is to get some deals over the line. The owners and myself are ambitious. I want to see the team up at the top of the table.'

Blues have reportedly returned with a second bid for Luton Town striker Isaac Vassell with interest in Preston North End forward Jordan Hugill seemingly going stale.

Agreed David,we need two quality strikers, before today I thought one would do however with Adams likely to be out for many weeks two additions would be ideal.Donledson will do his best,he always has however he is ageing, prone to injury and is not a prolific goal scorer. I suspect we will sign Vassell,he could be a surprise and do well in the championship however it's a big jump in standard of play. With urgency we simply must get a striker in ASAP KRO

We do have another striker in Nsue. I think he would be very good playing off Donaldson. Not sure who else we have who can play right back with Cogley injured.

This Adams injury was waiting to happen. We all knew it. That is why,and I refer here to Dean Smith, that when we get a bit miffed with Harry,it is not a case of moaners as you put it,but clear sense that he should have acted MONTHS ago. We now go into two juicy games against poor opposition with our prospects of maximum points reduced to perhaps surviving two draws.Le Hane understands this and you could never accuse him of being 'a moaner'.

Up till now we are a If only club . If only we hadn't sold Andy Johnson for peanuts ..if only we had signed Chris Wood , and Abel Hernandez scored a hatrick yesterday ...we need to be frugal ,,,but when all roads lead to Rome why are we in Remo...

Abel Hernandez would have been an ideal striker to bring in,I have made several comments about him,as you say David "if only". Ohio yes I totally agree a striker should have been top priority,we have known that for a very long time and I am amazed two games into the season we have not added at least one.Maybe, just maybe the injury to Adams will highlight the urgency to the board. I still think Redknapp made a big error in not chasing after Keane's signature. It would be interesting to see Ndoye started as a striker, possibly he could do a job for us there in this current emergency situation? KRO

Very significant week ahead which could have a major impact on how the club progresses. Last saturdays game produced a poor gate after pre-season expectations of 25000 for the opening match. Yes,it is holiday season but with the so called record breaking season ticket sales,we were expecting around that figure. Fortunately the crowd did their bit by urging the players on. Had we had a couple of new strikers playing then it may well have been much higher attendance. This week,we must not let Bolton and Burton get good points as the next home gate will suffer. No doubt Harry will have at least one more striker added-hopefully for tomorrow night. Pressure is always on managers I know, but Harry being the best paid manager outside the Prem. then I am expecting him and Vertere to do what's is patently obvious.
