Transfer Talk: Redknapp interested in Arsenal defender

Birmingham City are reportedly in the race to sign Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson on a season-long loan according to various reports in the national press.

Italian side Sassuolo are also interested in taking the 25-year-old, who can play at right back and centre back, on loan for the year but it is believed that the defender is more feared towards staying in England.

Blues manager Harry Redknapp has been actively searching for extra defensive cover, with bids for Bristol City duo Joe Bryan and Aden Flint both failing, so a loan move for Jenkinson may now come into consideration.

With Ryan Shotton set to complete his £3 million move to Middlesbrough, Blues need to bring in a defender to cover Shotton's move and Jenkinson may well be that man.

If Shotton is sold without a replacement installed first it will be a disgrace.Borough have ambition, they most certainly will be in the mix for either direct promotion or the lottery of the play off's.Redknapp signed for one reason,to get us promoted. His transfer business to date is no where near enough to meet his ambition.Too many players have slipped through his fingers, reason why I don't know, are the board backing him as he expected? Why is he not involved in the negotiations? Many questions need answers. KRO ...
