Confirmed: Saints striker joins Blues on loan

Birmingham City have won the race to sign Southampton striker Sam Gallagher on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old arrives at St. Andrew`s having enjoyed a successful loan spell with Blackburn where, despite their relegation, he scored 11 goals.

He recently signed a new four-year contract with the Saints and Blues have beaten-off intense competition from the likes of Aston Villa, Derby and Wolves to sign the forward.

Harry Redknapp has been crying out for more attacking options and someone that can put the ball in the back of the net.

Gallagher proved last season that he can do just that, fingers crossed he will do the same for Blues.

Get in. Its about time we stopped messing around. Get the Torino midfielder and the Oxford winger and we should be more than capable of holding our own against any side in this league.

Supposedly it was the guarantee of first team football that sealed the deal so either vassell is set for a role coming off the bench or adams could be in his way. Looks like Claytons days are numbered

He will play wide right I think.Massive signing for us without doubt. well done to whoever got this over the line. Bruce ,I know, was itching to get this player along with Rowett.

Sam Gallagher has already proven with Blackburn that he is more than ready for Championship football,it's a very good signing even if it's just for a season. Our striker options have turned around from dismal to good.Harry is finally gathering the kind of squad he would have liked, one that can give us hope for the season. Many have already written us off,it's way too early to do that, every team in this league will suffer a bad patch dropping points where they least expect to do it,if this new team bonds quickly we could be in for an exciting and interesting season full of hope.
