Rumour: Blues submit bid for Fleetwood Town striker

Birmingham City have this evening reportedly tabled a bid for Fleetwood Town striker Devante Cole, Vital Birmingham understands.

We believe that a bid in the region of £650,000 has been submitted to the League One side with several add-ons also included in the deal.

The 22-year-old striker is believed to be among a number of targets that Blues boss Steve Cotterill handed to the owners before the January transfer window opened and it now looks like they have made their first move in the market.

Early last week it was reported that fellow Sky Bet Championship side Sheffield United were also interested in bringing the 12-goal forward to the second tier of English football but it remains to be seen where he will be at the end of January.

As always, we will bring you more on this story as it develops...

Strange one this.Cole did come on trial earlier this season and didn’t impress.Perhaps Cotterill has an eye for next season when we may be in a different league.Cole won promotion with MKDons alongside Dele Ali a few seasons ago,so this may be a decent move".

Almajir latest update on the financial side makes sense of what is happening at the club. With Cotterill being backed, experienced players leaving and the pursuit of lower league players-I feel a totally new format is being adopted, which is a far cry from the heady days of last summer under Harry.Survival is still very much on since our back to back wins-but reality tells me that our hierarchy are planning for a different outcome.

Ohio. We have certainly changed direction. Some would say targeting lower league strikers is a lack of ambition, and some would call it a sensible approach. Recent Championship history tells us a decent goal producing forward at this level will cost approx £20m. That sort of tells us what level we were on in the summer and where we are now.

BS.yes we are in a different place now and contingency planning is now the priority. It is like the Harry sojourn was all but a dream and for the want of a couple of wins,it could all have been different.Senior players never took responsibility and some sulked and some never hurt when defeat constantly occurred. We passed the chance up and we now build again for a totally different era.I for one will always support the club but my love for them has diminished.Last summer I couldn't wait to get a season ticket, whereas next season my priorities will be elsewhere.
