Club 'considering a replacement' for Steve Cotterill
Birmingham City are 'considering a replacement' for Steve Cotterill, according to Football League journalist Alan Nixon.
Vital Birmingham understands that Cotterill is under increasing pressure after three straight Championship defeats - including the 5-0 hammering at Brentford on Tuesday - without scoring a goal.
It's a drastic change in fortunes for Cottrill who recently led the team to four wins in six outings which moved them away from the relegation zone.
But after returning to their old ways, Blues now sit just a single point ahead of the bottom three and face a huge six pointer against fellow strugglers Barnsley at St. Andrews on Saturday.
Cotterill's appointment back in October was the choice of club director Xuandong Ren, as was releiving Harry Redknapp of his duties. However, Ren's relationship with the club hierachy has become strained after a well documented fall out with chief scout Darren Dein - who isn't an employee of the club but is paid a £25,000 a month retainer by the club's owner to assist with transfer business.
It has long been assumed that if Ren departs the club, Cotterill will soon follow. But Ren may be under pressure to pull the trigger as soon as this weekend, should Blues lose to Barnsley.
