Garry Monk press conference

Garry Monk press conference

It seems like Blues have had more unveilings than wins in recent seasons but as Garry Monk  addressed the media this afternoon, his positivity came to the fore.

Here is a man fully aware of the situation he inherits yet there was not even the slightest suggestion of negativity during his press conference.

Monk spoke of his desire to 'build foundations' which will be music to the ears of long suffering Blues fans.

The 38 year-old described the club as 'massive' and 'historic' and came across as genuinely proud at landing his new role.

While Monk may have skirted around a question asking if there is a break clause in his contract in the event of relegation, he gave off the aura of a man who wants to make this job his own.

Supported by Pep Clotet, James Beattie and Daryll Flahavan, Monk has 11 games to save Blues from the dreaded drop. All of the other conversations can wait until May.

After Forest I think the word is punch drunk.Thats how it is with me at the moment. Monk’s arrival comes with hope without doubt, but another week of drubbings will,I am afraid, finish me for this season. What I do feel However is that if Monk does carry on for next season-then League One May be the beginning of our comeback.
