2007's annual awards ceremony had a greater than usual sense of celebration about them, on the back of Birmingham's automatic promotion.
Over a thousand fans gathered to hear words of thanks and encouragement from David Gold and Steve Bruce, as well as the presentations, video montages and charity auctions.
The honours for the 2006-2007 season were:
Young Player of the Season: Fabrice Muamba
Junior Blues Player of the Season: Gary McSheffrey
Moment of the Season: Colin Doyle's penalty save against Wolves
Top Goal Scorer: Gary McSheffrey
BRMB Listeners Player of the Season: Stephen Clemence
BBC WM Breakthrough Award: Colin Doyle
Goal of the Season: Seb Larsson against Sheffield Wednesday
Players' Player of the Season: Stephen Clemence
Academy Player of the Season: Krystian Pearce
Player of the Season: Stephen Clemence.
Clemence was a very popular choice for his awards and it was heaatening to see Fabrice Muamba so delighted to receive his.
The speeches were full of thanks for the support from the fans and full of hope for their return to the Premiership.
Both Bruce and Gold acknowledged that there had been dark days this season but Blues had prevailed and shown their spirit when it mattered most.
Steve Bruce added a touch of pragmatism to the end of his address when he pointed out that 'the hard work starts now'.
His team, scattered about the room, sipped on fruit juice or mineral water, thoughts of Sunday's final game already on their minds.
A trophy would be the icing on this season's cake, but for tonight the spotlight was on what has already been acheived.
