SUTTON TO LEAVE CLUB??

Chris Sutton is a member of a very select Club. When he steps out at St Andrews tomorrow for his home debut he will be part of a group of players who have pulled on the Blue shirt but who’s only St Andrew’s goal is against us. Jason Pennant was the last to release himself from this unwanted ‘accolade’. Sutton scored for Blackburn in the 1994 League cup tie.

There are a number of permanent members of this Club. The not so great Carl Richards and David Smith joined after leaving the Blues while Marco Gabbiadini and Darryl Powell scored for Derby and never lost the tag in their stay with us. Alan Johnston was on loan for two months and moved on to Bolton. Having never troubled the scorers for us he netted within 10 minutes of his return. Hopefully Sutton will extricate himself against Portsmouth
