'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McLeish on West Ham draw (AUDIO)

It hasn't been the greatest season for Birmingham in their comeback to the Premier League. Boss Alex McLeish tasted victory on his first day in charge with a shock win at Tottenham but it's been hard graft ever since.

The Blues have been struggling around the drop zone in an ever-seeming merry-go-round of clubs in that last relegation place but recovered well from dropping two points against Derby last time out.

Freddie Ljungberg scored early on for West Ham at Upton Park, before a James McFadden penalty, won by the Scotsman as well, claimed a point for Birmingham before the Hammers' frustration culminated in Lee Bowyer receiving his marching orders in the final few minutes of a drab second half.

McLeish felt his side could have won the match through Mikael Forssell but says his side's spirit should receive all the credit.
