Birmingham started their away match at Brentford with the same team for the third game in a row. Lee Clark was hoping to extend the Blues positive early season run with away victory here. Clark`s men could not hold on in the end even though the other team were reduced to 10 men.

In the first action of the game Paul Caddis confidently fired home a penalty. Clayton Donaldson pulled down by Tony Craig and the player was sent off on 15 minutes. The next chance was a header just over from Thomas, after Cotterill crossed in.

Lee Novak could have made it comfortable for Blues but for an unbelievable point blank save from Button to stop the header. David Davis also got a shot in a half cleared corner. A Grant Hall header was the last chance of the half that was comfortably gathered.

Blues went in at half time in control and a man up. Brentford were to threatened on 51 minutes, Alan Judge almost picked out Gray in space at the left post.

Clark then took Thomas off and brought on Gray. Brentford continued to threaten with both Judge and Pritchard reigning shots in at Randolph.

Donaldson was then brought off and Stephen Gleeson brought on. Shortly after, Brentford got in again with Randolph out quickly to block.

The goal for the home side then came through their substitute Moses Odubajo on 79 minutes. A mistake by grounds and Odubajo raced through to score the equaliser.

The last throw of the dice from Blues as Denny Johnstone came on for Davis. Brentford were to have the final chance, a strong shot by Dallas to test Randolph.

Birmingham had to share the spoils this game after failing to control a spirited fight back from Brentford. Reasons to be positive for the Blues, without the mis-control from Grounds they would be travelling home with all three points.
