Wigan Destroy Birmingham

Birmingham were well beaten at the DW Stadium today. The visitors struggled to worry a far better Wigan side as the score line eventually told. Wigan meet expectations with a comprehensive win over Birmingham
Wigan started with a signal of intent. Don Cowie rippled the side netting after just one minute played. Five minutes later Wigan threatened again. Andrew Taylor`s cross found James Perch who shot wide.
Just nine minutes into the game Callum McManaman scored. He twisted and turned away from the defender to put the ball through Randolph`s legs. Cotterill would register a shot on target. A hopeful shot easily gathered by Scott Carson.
35 minutes in McManaman surely would have had another. Randolph came to claim at the Wigan man`s feet to mop up some nervous defending. Four minutes later Wigan scored from a shot clipping the post. McArthur played in Andrew Taylor who shot across the keeper and in off the post 2-0.
In added time before the first half break Wigan scored another. Perch played it to Huws who fed McManaman in the box to finish excellently, 3-0. Half time at the DW Stadium finished 3-0 to the home side.
Lee Clark made two changes at half time. Lee Novak and Stephen Gleeson made way for Mark Duffy and Wes Thomas. The home side changed Leon Barnett for Ivan Ramis.
Blues finally threatened the score line. Clayton Donaldson`s header at goal was well saved by Scott Carson. Wigan remained dangerous. Randolph pushed away a Don Cowie shot from the left hand side.
Rosler made his second change in the game near 70 minutes. Oriol Riera was replaced by Martyn Waghorn. Clark made his final change at the same time. Demarai Gray brought on in place of David Cotterill.
Randolph kept the game at 3-0 with a good save. Waghorn allowed to cut inside and he shot at goal. Callum McManaman was then taken off to a large ovation, Shaun Maloney the man that replaced him.
Wigan then found a 4th. Maloney`s cross found Waghorn who finished from close range, 4-0. Blues had a chance to get one back but Donaldson couldn`t beat Carson. Caddis had his shot deflected straight into Donaldson`s path.
The game finished 4-0 to the hosts. Score line that was deserved for their domination over Birmingham on the day.
