Blues put in a good shift on Monday, but lacked a clinical finish. Forest gained all three points in the fixture.

Birmingham City started the game with high intensity and the mind set to attack.

Bobby Moseley was almost made one of Birmingham City's attacks pay off. He stroked a vicious shot from a good distance out which Doris De Vries in the Forest goal was equal to.

13 minutes into the game, the deadlock was broken. The home team had the goal. Stephen McLaughlin managed to climb highest and plant a header into the bottom corner. Preston had no chance.

Dexter Blackstock, who proved to be hard to handle for the Blues' almost added a second. Callum Preston with a decent save to deny a certain goal.

Half time came and the score was 1-0.

The visitors made a substitution at half time and brought on David Popa. The young man had a great chance just into the second half but again De Vries kept it out.

Alan Thompson's side pushed for a goal. Nasseri and Popa going close. But Birmingham City lacked the clinical finish that was required.

Whilst the visitors pushed for an equalizer, Forest counter attacked successfully. Derrick Otim placed a calm finish beyond the reach of Preston.

A disappointing result yet again for this young team.
