Blues U18's Win At Home

Birmingham City U18's
3 - 0
Millwall U18's

Monday 6th October; 13:00pm

Attendance: Unknown

One minute into the game, and Steve Spooner couldn't be a happier man! Kieran Dunbar fired an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper no chance. 1-0 to the Blues. But a long way to go.

Six minutes on the clock, and the ball was in the Millwall net again. Charlie Cooper, unleashed a shot from well outside of the area, which sailed past the Millwall 'keeper.

The tempo was still high throughout the first half, the Blues were well on top and looking good for their lead.
No more clear cut chances happened so it was 2-0 at the half time break.

Fifteen minutes after the restart, another goal was scored. New addition, David Popa, scored with a cool finish to put the game beyond doubt.

The first home win of the season for the U18 squad, and one which the manager will be hoping to build on.

Manager Rating

Speaking to the Birmingham City official site, Spooner gives his thoughts the game:
"It was convincing win and it was really pleasing to keep another clean sheet, and we defended well as a team," said Academy coach Spooner.

"We started off very well and we kept our tempo and workrate going throughout the game, which was something we didn`t do in our last home game when we played in fits and starts and the passing was too slow.

"This time I felt we played the ball forward more quickly and pressed people quickly and I was really pleased with their attitude and application."
