Birmingham City in 8-0 Disgrace
25th August 2014, 15:00
Birmingham City were hammered 8-0 yesterday by visitors Bournemouth. The defeat surely see's the end to any chance Malcolm Crosby has of taking the job full time.
The home side were behind within just 3 minutes as their terrible home form continued. Pitman finished well into Darren Randolph's bottom corner.
It got worse pretty quickly as David Edgar was penalised for pulling back a Bournemouth attack. He was dismissed on 7 minutes, denying a goal scoring opportunity.
Bournemouth were 3-0 at half time with goals from Wilson (35') and Ritchie (40'). The first half then appeared to become an ironic happy memory as the second half would destroy the home side.
A second half hatrick from Pugh and goals from Rantie left Birmingham 8-0 down at home. Supporters began to throw their season tickets onto the pitch in a protest against the lack of effort by the players.
Birmingham have a huge task ahead of them to motivate themselves for their upcoming derby match with Wolves, which is an away end sell out.
It is well worth taking a look at the stats of the game. Blues could have never been in this game, there was no ball retention, which has been a problem all season.
The finishing in particular was poor. Paul Caddis has a penalty after a foul on Clayton Donaldson in the second half, which he struck poorly towards the bottom right and it was saved.
Amateur defending was on display all game, petty fouls around the 18 yard both and lots of errors from the defenders in particular.
A sad day for the club, Blues will now hope to appoint a manager within the next 48 hours.
