Blues U18's Beat Palace

Birmingham City U18's
3 - 2
Crystal Palace U18's

Wast Hills

Monday 20th October; 15:00pm

Attendance: Unknown

Referee:

This turned out to be the fourth successive win for the U18's in what was, a very exciting game.

It only took 30 seconds, for the Blues academy to take the lead. The young man, Kyle McFarlane with the goal. He has impressed me recently, having scored a hat-trick previously. A great finisher who's composure is second to none in front of goal. A player to watch.

Just before half time, the Blues doubled their lead. Wes McDonald scored the second with a simple finish. The Blues were passing the ball and keeping possession brilliantly. The defence were compact, and the coaching of Mr Spooner was working.

Khaellem Bailey was then on hand to add a third. He struck the ball into the net in the second half. Bailey, who has a brilliant work ethic, was lively throughout the game.

However, the scoreline finished 3-2 which flattered the visitors. 2 penalties, which upon viewing again, were wrongly given. This is purely my opinion, but the young boys can feel hard done by.

Nonetheless, a win for the youngsters means 12 points in the last 4 games. A great result, with performance to match.

Manager Rating

"We didn`t play as well as we have done, but we did well to grind out three points," said Spooner.

"My initial thoughts were that they weren`t penalties, but I`ll need to check that.

"That changed the complexity of the game, because Palace then had their tales up. But credit to the lads because despite those setbacks they didn`t lose their focus and they defended resolutely."
