'That sums Phillips up, he is a born finisher if he gets half a chance,' said the Blues boss.

'It wasn't really evident in the game when we brought him on and it turned a bit anxious for us, which was understandable in the first home game of the season.

'Everybody became a wee bit edgy but the players held their nerve and the fans held their nerve and Phillips did what he does best.'

'We started well, the tempo was good and the attitude,' he continued.

'But it was a bit frantic to be honest and we just lacked that wee bit of quality in the final third, which given who we had on the field I would expect a bit better from in the first 45.

'But Sheffield United had something to say about that and defended stoutly.

'That was a perfect example of what to expect in this league. It won't be a walk in the park and I never said it was going to be easy.

'It was important to win. If we hadn't won, can we still win the league? Of course. But it was good in terms of giving the players their baptism in the Championship and getting off to a victory.'

looks like were starting to gel as a team ... read most of the comments about the game saturday ... please remember it was the first of a long season ... i personally think bent will come good ... im looking forward to the next game away to southampton.. we definately need some quality at the back for cover ... i cant understand why someone starts slating tiny ... the championship is made for him ... just believe and all will come good ... come on you blue boys ........
