'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Oppositions View: Southampton

Find out what the Southampton manager thought of the win his side pulled off against Birmingham City.

Jan Poortvliet was more than pleased with his side after Lee Holmes and Adam Lallana scored the goals that knocked Blues out of the Carling Cup.

'I was delighted with the way we started to play so well and the whole team played as a team,' he said.

'We had some players missing but Jack Cork and Wayne Thomas came in and did a fantastic job for us.

'When you have players like David McGoldrick and Adam Lallana in your side you will always have a chance of scoring goals and that is what we did tonight.

'We are starting to come together as a team and it is looking good for us for the rest of the season.'
