Clark's View - Charlton Home

Blues manager Lee Clark admitted Blues were not at their best after they had to come from behind late on to snatch a 1-1 draw with Charlton at St Andrews on Saturday.

Charlton looked to be heading for a full quota of points having scored so late in the game through Leon Cort.

But Nikola Zigic claimed a point for the home side with a late strike that went low and into the net. All in all it could have been worse for the home side who had six players making their league debuts for the club.

"It was not the most fluent performance," Clark told the Sunday Mercury.

"We had quite a few players crackling, but no one was really exploding in terms of their performance

"It happens like that early in the season, so I was not too surprised.

"The good thing for me is the great character the players showed to get something out of the game.

"To come back from that situation when it is so late in stoppage time and it looked like being a defeat is testament to the lads` character.

"To snatch a point when you have not really played at your best is the sign of a good team.

"It is a good habit to have, picking up points when you have not played that well."
