'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Oppositions View - Dave Jones - Sheff Weds

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones was more than happy with how his new recruit Rodri performed in the 3-2 victory over Birmingham City last night.

The forward who's is on a season long loan from Barcelona B caused City loads of problems during the game and even scored for his new side before being taken off on the hour mark to rapturous applause from the home fans.

Wednesday were already one goal up when Rodri lost Steven Caldwell and fired a low shot past Jack Butland to make it 2-0.

Jones told reporters: 'He cramped up at the end, but you can see what he has got.

'He has got something you are always trying to teach forwards. You're next step must be forward and he always seems to find that space. When we get him fitter and he adapts we will see a lot more of him.

'He has the European glide and arrogance about him. His control and vision; we are expecting big things from the kid. He is only young and we have an option to buy him.

'But it was his first game and if he gets better than what he has shown tonight, then I think everyone will be really pleased.'

Trev you can't replicate this atmospher in all these new grounds which keep appearing can you. I thought our guys worked our nuts off closing you boys down in the first half and got the breaks we deserved. We could not keep that work rate up for the 90 minutes and you guys sensed that in the second half. I was glad you were playing the long ball instead of playing more from the right wing don't know him but he was danger to us all night definate penalty just glad it was the last kick of the game good luck for rest of the season apart from the reverse fixture ofcourse
