Steve Bruce left St Andrews a happy man after seeing his Hull City side take the full quota of points from game with his old side.

Bruce must have been pleased to bits when his side went 3-0 up before the half time break with Sone Aluko running the show for the visitors.

Blues did fight back and managed a goal either side of half time but Hull were strong enough to hang on for the points; they could have even increased their lead.

Bruce told the Press Association: 'It was an unbelievable turnaround. But credit to Birmingham they stuck at their task just when I thought the crowd would turn against them.

'The team talk at half time was to keep it tight and they scored again after 12 seconds. It just shows what rubbish you talk'.


Bruce also acknowledged the value of Aluko and his performance in this game and others past.

He added: 'But I thought some of our football in the first half was very good. I have some really good players and the way Aluko is playing, is there a better player in the championship? He has been excellent for us.'
