Player To Watch

Player To Watch

Johnstone has been in fine form for the development squad this season, having been bought from Celtic earlier this year. But why is he being tipped to be so good?

When watching the development squad, I often feel that many of the youngsters play without creativity with the more bullish, stronger players taking all of the plaudits.

However, in one of the first games that Johnstone played, I saw him assist a goal with a back heel. Every man, woman, boy or girl who play football have tried a back heel that once in a lifetime it actually falls to your own player. But the perfect execution of the pass as well as the audacity to even try such a move was like a breath of fresh air for regular watchers of youth football.

We can`t be surprised by this though. Denny caused havoc against the likes of Ajax and Barcelona in the UEFA youth league during his time in the green and white of Celtic. By no means is he the finished article, but he does have a very large potential.

As Johnstone has been on the radar for many of the top clubs particularly in Scotland, I was expecting an arrogant lad with as much swagger as a famous rapper. What I have come to realize, is that he is a humble, man who works as hard as a Trojan and has every intention of repaying the faith shown to him by both Lee Clark and Alan Thompson.

Who knows whether he will be a big star in the future, but with the right attitude, he certainly has the potential to be great.

Thanks Chris. I believe we will be seeing him regularly for the blues soon! If we can hold onto him...

If we can hold Gray we'll hold Johnstone! He came to work with Alan Thompson right? Sounds like we have a good one

Yeah, he says he admires Alan an that's why he left Celtic. Purely no other reason! Keeping Gray will always be brilliant.
