Monday Musings: Robben, Wally Dyche & Subway
You know the one I mean… the famous machine that selected players at random. Clark only sold it after he realised it wasn`t working… it started picking players in their natural positions which took all the fun out of it. It`s the best fiver that Rowett has spent all summer. He now realises that Robbo is a natural born box-to-box midfielder, the best one we have had since Olly Lee.
Speaking of Olly, it rhymes with Wally and that`s what Sean Dyche sounded like in his post-match interview. Saying that Burnley 'dominated the game` was laughable. Yes, they may have been hard done by after a dodgy penalty decision, but Dyche didn`t mention the questionable free-kick award that led to their equaliser. And what is domination in Dyche`s football thesaurus? It must read 'ability to pass the ball sideways and hoof it into the box`.
Blues` game at Brentford has been called off because they are relaying their pitch at Griffin Park. In August… After the season has started... Ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as Blues releasing a kit in mid-September. But stress not… Blues` extra three play-off games will make up for the lateness of the new strip being released, that`ll give us a while longer to wear it so it isn`t a complete write-off.
After the Bristol Rovers cup game, I was relieved to see Blues go into the hat for the second round draw. What an anti-climax Gillingham at home is. I look forward to the electric atmosphere of 5,266 at St. Andrew`s including a massive contingent of 12 Gills fans.
Anyway, it`s been short but sweet. I`m off to buy my MK Dons tickets! I look forward to that. Dons are the biggest franchise since Subway - except the food at Stadium MK must be better, surely.
